Simon Sohm: Fiorentina midfielder linked with Serie A move to Venezia

Switzerland and Nigeria international Simon Sohm, currently at Fiorentina, is being linked with a move to Serie A rivals Venezia as the newly promoted side explore midfield reinforcements.

Sohm, 25, is under contract with Fiorentina until 30 June 2030, a deal that would require Venezia to negotiate a fee rather than pursue a free transfer. The central midfielder is valued at around €8m, providing a reference point for any discussions between the clubs.

Fiorentina signed Sohm from Parma on 4 August 2025 for €15m after his impressive rise in Italy, and he spent part of last season on loan at Bologna before returning to Florence at the end of June 2026. His recent experience across Serie A and at another Emilia-Romagna club is understood to appeal to Venezia as they look for players already accustomed to the division.

Sohm has made 83 appearances in Serie A, scoring five goals and adding one assist, underlining his familiarity with the league’s demands. He has also featured in European competition, including the Europa League and the Europa Conference League, as well as in the Coppa Italia, where he has contributed goals and assists from midfield.

Before moving to Florence, Sohm helped Parma win the Serie B title in 2023-24, an achievement that further strengthened his reputation in Italy. With a long-term contract in place and a significant investment already made by Fiorentina, any move to Venezia remains at the rumour stage, with the Tuscan club currently in a strong position over his future.
