Sunday Oliseh blames Michael Oliver for Arsenal’s draw against Manchester City
By Monsurah Olatunji
Former Nigeria international Sunday Oliseh criticized referee Michael Oliver for his role in the outcome of the match between Manchester City and Arsenal, which ended in a dramatic 2-2 draw.
Pep Guardiola’s side struggled against Mikel Arteta’s 10-man team, who had taken the lead before a late equalizer from John Stones salvaged a point for City.
After an early goal from Erling Haaland, Arsenal responded with goals from Riccardo Calafiori and Gabriel Magalhães.
However, the match shifted dramatically when Leandro Trossard received a second yellow card just before halftime, leaving Arsenal to defend for much of the second half.
Oliseh expressed that Trossard’s red card potentially saved City from a heavier defeat, stating, “Arsenal totally deserved victory over Man. City. This doubtful red card spared Man. City some thrashing from a well-organized Arsenal side.”
He praised Arsenal’s performance, highlighting their compact play and the quality of their goalkeeper, suggesting that they could be strong contenders for the title this year.
