Nigeria forward Chinwendu Ihezuo continued her impressive form from the national team to her club side, scoring twice to lead Pachuca to a convincing 3-0 victory over Guadalajara Chivas in the Mexican women’s league.
Ihezuo, who played a crucial role in Nigeria’s senior women’s national team’s qualification for the Olympics with a 1-0 aggregate win over South Africa, opened the scoring for Pachuca in the 24th minute at the Estadio Miguel Hidalgo, Pachuca.
Veronica Corral extended the lead for the hosts from the penalty spot in the 39th minute before Ihezuo sealed the victory with her second goal in the dying moments of the second half.
The former China-based player was substituted in the 92nd minute, shortly after completing her brace, with Destinee Noel Manzo Paolinetti replacing her.
With her brace, Ihezuo has now scored ten goals in 14 league matches this season.
Her compatriot Osinachi Ohale featured for the entire duration of the match.
Pachuca currently occupies the second position on the league table with 35 points from 14 games, level with Monterrey and two points behind leaders UANL Tigres.
Their next fixture will be against Club Tijuana on April 26, 2024, in another league encounter.
