Suliat Abideen bags assist as Fomget fall to Slavia Prague

By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde

Nigeria international Suliat Abideen registered an assist, but it was not enough to save Turkish champions Fomget GSK, who bowed out of the 2025/26 UEFA Women’s Champions League with a 2–1 defeat to Slavia Prague in the second qualifying round on Wednesday.

After a cagey first half, the Czech side broke the deadlock a minute into the second half through Molly McLaughlin.

Just three minutes later, Kateřina Svitková doubled Slavia’s advantage, leaving Fomget with a mountain to climb.

The Turkish champions had a golden chance to reduce the deficit in stoppage time when Armisa Kuč stepped up for a penalty, but she failed to convert.

Moments later, Kuč redeemed herself by scoring from Abideen’s clever assist in the 95th minute.

Despite the late rally, it was too little too late, as Slavia Prague advanced while Fomget’s European journey came to an end.

The result means Fomget will miss out on the group stage, a feat Galatasaray achieved last season.
