Sunshine Queens secured a hard-fought 1–0 victory over Confluence Queens of Kogi State at the historic Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City, booking their place in the semi-finals of the 2026 President Federation Cup.
The Akure-based side showed remarkable composure, determination, and tactical discipline throughout the encounter, managing the game effectively against a resilient opponent.
Coach Tayo Onilude’s team got off to a bright start, taking the lead in the 11th minute through Owoseni Oluwabukola, whose clinical finish ultimately proved decisive.
This qualification is especially significant for Sunshine Queens, as it marks their first appearance in the President Federation Cup semi-finals since 2015.
The Akure ladies last lifted the trophy in that same year, their only triumph in the competition.
They will now face Nasarawa Amazons in what promises to be a keenly contested semi-final clash.
