NFF President tasks Nigerian coaches to pursue greater international engagement

By Oluwadamilola Olaleye

President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau (MON), has called on Nigerian coaches to actively engage with international football communities and apply the knowledge gained from their recent CAF B-License Coaching Course to elevate the standard of the game nationwide.

Speaking at the course’s closing ceremony in Abuja on Thursday, Gusau commended the participants for their dedication throughout the seven-month, four-module programme, emphasizing the need for continuous professional development and global exposure.

The programme, which commenced on April 7–12, continued with sessions on October 6–10 and October 20–24, and concluded with the final module on November 3.

“I take pride in our achievements thus far. Although we have a year remaining in our tenure, I remain hopeful that, by the grace of God, we will reach our intended goals,” Gusau said.

“Since assuming office, we have facilitated the CAF B, CAF C, and CAF D License programmes — with the CAF C course designed exclusively for women, a significant step given Nigeria’s leadership in women’s football across Africa.”

Gusau expressed optimism that the newly certified coaches would soon take up coaching roles across the continent, noting that the NFF’s objective extends beyond certification to developing professionals capable of contributing to football’s broader growth at both national and international levels.

He also appreciated CAF Education Officer, Mr. Honour Janza, for his support and for commending the participants’ discipline, commitment, and professionalism throughout the programme.
