The Nigeria Football Federation has approved new assistant coaching appointments for the U17 girls’ national team, the Flamingos, following recommendations from its Technical and Development Committee.

Former international defender Joy Jegede-Idakwo has been named first assistant coach, while Aighewi Omodiaghe takes up the role of second assistant.

Additionally, ex-international Kola Ige has been appointed as the team’s goalkeepers’ trainer.

Jegede-Idakwo previously captained the Falconets and earned multiple caps with the Super Falcons.

Omodiaghe was part of Nigeria’s squad at the inaugural FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup 2008.

The trio will work under Head Coach Akeem Ishola Busari as the Flamingos aim to qualify for the FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup 2026 and improve on their third-place finish in 2022.
