Arsenal set new Emirates milestones as Kai Havertz makes English football history
Arsenal strengthened their remarkable home record under Mikel Arteta as a two-goal lead against Coventry City brought up a milestone 60th occasion in which they have held such an advantage in a Premier League match at Emirates Stadium.
The statistic, published by football data provider Opta, underlines the consistency and resilience Arsenal have developed during Arteta’s time in charge. On the previous 59 occasions they had led by at least two goals at home in the Premier League, they went on to win 58 times and draw once.
They have never lost from that position, a record that reflects the extent of Arsenal’s control when they establish a significant advantage in north London.
The result also extended the Gunners’ outstanding record against promoted sides. Arsenal have now gone 45 consecutive Premier League home matches unbeaten against teams arriving from the division below.
That sequence consists of 40 victories and five draws. Opta says it is the longest unbeaten home run against promoted clubs by any team in Premier League history, further highlighting Arsenal’s dominance at Emirates Stadium against the competition’s newcomers.
The evening produced a landmark of its own for Kai Havertz, who continued his impressive scoring form for Arsenal.
The Germany international found the net in four successive starts for the first time in his career in English football. The run began with a goal against Burnley, followed by strikes against Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester City, before he scored again against Coventry City.
Havertz’s latest goal adds to a period in which he has become one of Arteta’s most important attacking options. His sequence also represents his strongest run of scoring in consecutive starts since moving to the Premier League.
Opta summarised the achievement by noting that Havertz had scored in four consecutive starts in English football:
“1⃣ v Burnley
1⃣ v Paris SG
1⃣ v Manchester City
1⃣ v Coventry City
Prime.”
Arsenal’s latest statistical landmarks arrive as the club continue to turn Emirates Stadium into one of the most difficult venues for visiting teams. Their record when leading by two or more goals at home under Arteta is effectively flawless, while their unbeaten run against promoted clubs adds another measure of their sustained superiority.
For Havertz, the four-match scoring sequence provides further evidence of his growing influence. Goals against Burnley, Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester City and Coventry City have placed him among Arsenal’s key attacking threats during the current season.
The figures also capture the broader transformation of the London club in recent years under Arteta. Their ability to protect commanding positions, combined with a historic home record against newly promoted opponents, has helped establish Arsenal as a formidable force at Emirates Stadium.
