Brentford confirm Kaye Furo will miss Liverpool match after metatarsal surgery

Brentford striker Kaye Furo will not be available for Saturday’s Premier League meeting with Liverpool at the Gtech Community Stadium after undergoing surgery on a metatarsal injury.

The 19-year-old, a Belgium youth international of Nigerian descent, remains sidelined and was included among the Brentford players unavailable for selection.

Furo suffered the injury during training just days before he was expected to make his first start for Brentford in a Carabao Cup match against Reading. He subsequently required an operation last month and has yet to return to contention.

The forward had made an impressive start to the season before his injury. He scored four goals in Brentford’s opening two Premier League 2 matches and was named the competition’s Player of the Month for September 2026.

Furo joined Brentford during the winter transfer window and has since been included in 15 first-team matchday squads. He has made three appearances for the club, including his Premier League and FA Cup debuts.

Football is also part of Furo’s family history. His father, Iyenemi Furo, was a former Nigeria centre-back and represented the Super Eagles at the 2000 Africa Cup of Nations.

That tournament was co-hosted by Nigeria and Ghana, with Iyenemi Furo starting five of Nigeria’s six matches.
