Odion Ighalo: Nigeria forward talks up Al Hilal’s FIFA Club World Cup chances

By Wale Mustapha
Al Hilal striker Odion Ighalo feels that his side have all it takes to win the 2023 FIFA Club World Cup title.
The Saudi Arabian Premier League champions will be representing Asian Football Confederation in the competition scheduled between February 1-11 in Rabat, Morocco.
The former Manchester United striker was part of Al Hilal’s campaign at the last edition in Abu Dhabi, where they finished fourth in the 18th edition of the competition.
The Nigeria international has backed Al Hilal to make history at the competition, stressing that the current Asian championship can draw inspiration from Morocco’s fairytale run at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
“Everything is possible in football. Nowadays you can’t predict what’s going to happen. If you work hard and fight hard on the field of play you can do anything. Look at Morocco at the World Cup, for instance,” Ighalo told FIFA.com.
“Nobody gave them a chance. They got to the semi-final and they almost got to the final. I believe Al Hilal can fight and get to the final and win it, because in football it’s possible to do anything when you work hard and believe in yourself.”
Other participating clubs expecting at this edition of FIFA Club World Cup are Seattle Sounders (CONCACAF), Auckland City (Oceania) and Wydad Casablanca (CAF).
