By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde
Idowu Kuku believes Osun Babes have no limit to their ambitions after ending their winless run at the Nigeria Women’s Football League Premiership following a 2-0 win over Heartland Queens.
After five straight defeats, Osun Babes finally got their campaign back on track against the Owerri based outfit thanks to strikes from Rebecca Omodele and Bolaji Olamide, marking the Osogbo-based side’s first since a 2-0 win against Royal Queens on December 30, 2022.
Ahead of their bottom-of-the-table battle clash with Royal Queens, the Omoluabi star believes they can boost their survival fortunes with a positive result at the Warri Township following a first leg triumph over the Warri based side.
“It was a very important win for the team against Heartland Queens. At least it takes us a point ahead of the relegation zone.” Kuku told Nigeriafootball.ng.
“In a game of football, anything is possible. I just believe with God on our side we are moving out of the relegation zone totally. We have had a bad first stanza and determines to start winning games to maintain our league status.
“It’s possible to pick a good result in Warri since the game will determine the team that will likely drop to the Championship at the end of the season. I believe we can do it and get a good result over there.”
With six points from seven games, Osun Babes are out of the above the relegation zone in eighth place ahead of bottom side and next opponents, Royal Queens and Kuku will be eager to play a key role in her side’s relegation battle.
