Head Coach of Kano Pillars Evans Ogenyi has lamented his side’s loss to Rangers International in the Round of 32 of the 2023 Federation Cup on Wednesday.
Godwin Obaje’s brace condemned the Masu Gida to a 2-0 defeat against the Flying Antelopes and the manager shifts his focus to gaining instant promotion to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) this term.
“I feel a little bit sad because I actually came here with a tactic that no matter what, I will have a decent result. Football is what it is. The team that takes their chances wins the game.” Ogbeyi told Brila FM.
“We had some chances in the first half which were lost. I don’t know if to call it anxiety. In modern football, some teams do have their bad day.
“I will say it was a bad day for my team. I will put my major interest on the league which is actually my focus because the mandate given to me first of all is to see that the darling team of Kano people returns to where it rightly belongs.”
With four wins from the first five games of the Nigeria National League (NNL), Kano Pillars top Group A3 with 12 points ahead of Kebbi United and its lone conqueror, Malumfashi both on 10 points.
