Victor Osimhen tops 2023 AFCON qualifiers scorer chart after brace against Sierra Leone

Napoli forward, Victor Osimhen is the leading top scorers in the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers following his brace against Sierra Leone on Sunday evening.

Osimhen’s brace was influential to the Super Eagles victory over the Leone Stars as it aided the team a seat at the next AFCON in Ivory Coast.

Before the encounter on Sunday, Osimhen was tied with Senegalese star, Sadio Mane on five goals before netting additional two against the Leone Stars to top the goal scorers ranking with seven goals in five matches.

Dango Aboubacar Faissal Ouattara of Burkina Faso, Louis Mafouta of Central African Republic and Patson Daka of Zambia have banged in four goals each in the qualifiers.

232 goals have been scored in 98 AFCON qualifiers as we await the final matches in September.

Osimhen is coming off a sterling season in the Italian Serie A after scooping the highest goal scorer award and winning the Scudetto title for the Partenopei.
