Peace Efih scores as Christy Ucheibe’s Benfica pip Braga to Portuguese Super Cup final

It was a clash of two players of Nigeria’s senior women’s national team as SL Benfica edged Braga 4-2 on penalties to qualify for the final of the 2023 Portuguese Women’s Super Cup on Saturday.
SL Benfica with Christy Ucheibe faced Peace Efih’s Braga in the semi-final game of the 2023 Super Cup.
As early as the third minute of play, Benfica opened scoring with Alidou d’Anjou finding the back of the net.
Braga responded in the 21st minute as Brazil’s Sissi equalised.
Caroline Kehrer gave Braga the lead for the first time in the game four minutes later.
Efih made it 3-1 in the additional minutes of the first half before the league winners second half resurgence.
Andrea Falcon pulled a goal back in the 77th minute before Kika Nazareth’s goal in the 81st minute took the encounter into penalties.
Ucheibe scored the winning penalty to take her side into the final after coming off the bench as Benfica won 4-2 on penalties to reach the final.
Efih who started the game for Braga scored a goal which wasn’t enough to save her side from penalty loss.
Ucheibe and her Benfica teammates will face the winner of the second semi-final between Famalicao and Sporting in the final.
