AC Milan consider Zakaria El Ouahdi as Genk set €13m-€15m asking price

AC Milan are considering a move for Morocco international Zakaria El Ouahdi as they look to strengthen at right-back during the current summer transfer window.

The Italian club have identified the Genk defender as one of their leading options for the position, according to Italian transfer specialist Gianluca Di Marzio. Milan are assessing a possible deal for the 2001-born full-back as they prepare for the expected departure of Atikame, who is close to joining Olympique Lyon.

No formal offer has yet been submitted by Milan, but the interest in El Ouahdi is understood to be genuine. The Belgian club are believed to value the Morocco international at between €13m and €15m and are holding firm on that valuation.

Genk do not appear willing to let El Ouahdi leave for less than the amount they have set, meaning Milan would need to decide whether to meet the Belgian side’s demands before the transfer can progress.

El Ouahdi has already attracted attention from elsewhere in Europe. His name was previously linked with a move to PSV, with several reports suggesting that PSV manager Peter Bosz wanted the player during this transfer window.

The defender’s possible transfer to Milan would represent another significant move for a Genk player to one of Europe’s leading clubs this summer. He could become the second major name to leave the Belgian side for a prominent European destination, following the departure of Greek prospect Konstantinos Karetsas to Borussia Dortmund.

Karetsas joined Borussia Dortmund in a deal worth about €35m, underlining the level of value Genk can command for its most sought-after players. The club’s stance over El Ouahdi reflects its determination to protect that value, particularly with interest now emerging from AC Milan.

For now, El Ouahdi remains a Genk player and Milan have not made an official approach. However, the right-back has moved into the Italian club’s plans as a potential solution for the position, with his future likely to depend on whether Milan are prepared to meet Genk’s €13m-€15m valuation.

The Morocco international’s earlier links with PSV and the latest interest from Milan have placed him among the more notable Genk players attracting attention in this summer’s market. Should the move to Italy be completed, El Ouahdi would follow Karetsas in leaving the Belgian club for one of Europe’s major teams.
