Saudi offer ends Getafe’s hopes of signing Jadon Sancho

Getafe’s attempt to sign Jadon Sancho has collapsed after the England winger told club president Angel Torres that he would not join, with a lucrative offer from a club outside Europe now expected to determine his next move.
Sancho had asked for €3m net until the end of the season to agree to a move to Getafe. The La Liga club had been keen to recruit a winger at the request of manager Jose Bordalas, who wants to strengthen an attack with limited options while competing in three competitions.
Reports in England had suggested Getafe’s offer was worth €400,000. However, according to Spanish newspaper Marca, the club offered significantly more than that figure, although it still fell short of Sancho’s financial demands.
The player’s representatives are now completing the details of a new agreement. They ruled out a move to Getafe and a return to La Liga on Tuesday morning.
Sancho, who has previously represented Manchester United, Aston Villa, Chelsea and Borussia Dortmund, is negotiating with a Saudi Arabian club, Marca reports. That club is preparing to meet his financial expectations, which are thought to be higher than the amount he requested from Getafe.
The potential move would mean Sancho leaving European football.
Getafe close transfer business
Getafe have two vacant places in their squad but have decided to suspend further transfer activity until the winter window opens on 2 January, unless an especially attractive opportunity becomes available.
The club’s immediate schedule includes a Copa del Rey fixture involving Lebrijana on 29 October 2026 and a La Liga match against Sevilla on 01 November 2026.
Meanwhile, La Liga president Javier Tebas visited the offices at the Coliseum on Tuesday and held what Marca described as a positive meeting with Torres.
“Our relations are in the best possible state,” Tebas said.
Torres, however, criticised the Spanish Football Federation over the Copa del Rey schedule. He said the draw could have avoided pairing Sevilla and Real Betis with Sporting Hortaleza and Navalcarnero, while Getafe and Rayo Vallecano have been required to travel to Andalusia to face teams from Lebrija and Huelva.
“ This match will cost us €60,000,” Torres said.
