Ajax ready to make Tolu Arokodare move permanent, says Jordi Cruyff

Ajax have already agreed the key financial and contractual terms required to sign Nigeria striker Tolu Arokodare permanently, according to technical director Jordi Cruyff.
Arokodare joined Ajax from Sky Bet Championship side Wolverhampton Wanderers on a season-long loan during the summer transfer window.
The 25-year-old has made an immediate impression in Amsterdam, scoring 10 goals and providing three assists in 15 appearances across all competitions for the former European champions.
His loan deal reportedly contains an option for Ajax to complete a permanent transfer for a fee close to €20 million.
Cruyff has now indicated that the club is well placed to retain the striker beyond the current campaign, saying the main details of a potential long-term agreement have already been settled, including Arokodare’s salary.
“Everything has already been arranged. His salary too, although he did ask for a pay rise at the last press conference,” Cruyff told Ziggo Sport.
The Ajax technical director also praised the way Arokodare had adapted since arriving, after initial discussion about his move from a relegated side.
“He’s doing well. I remember that when we signed him, there was a lot of talk about him coming from a relegated team and all that usual chatter. But he has settled in very well,” he said.
“He has a good mentality, he’s a team player, and that’s important. I hope he continues like this. Strikers have their ups and downs.”
Arokodare’s performances have strengthened the case for Ajax to activate the reported purchase option, with the Nigerian becoming an increasingly important part of the team.
Cruyff’s comments suggest that the club’s discussions over a permanent move have already progressed significantly, leaving Arokodare’s continued form as an important factor during the rest of his loan spell.
