Arsenal's Iwobi Eyes EPL Top Four and Europa League Triumph

In a resolute declaration, Nigerian forward Alex Iwobi affirmed Arsenal’s dual ambitions of securing a top-four finish in the Premier League and clinching the Europa League trophy. The 21-year-old’s assertion comes as Arsenal currently occupies the sixth position in the Premier League standings, trailing eight points behind the coveted Champions League places.

Addressing the media after Arsenal’s commanding 3-0 victory over Swedish club Oestersunds in the first-leg round 32 clash of the UEFA Europa League, Iwobi emphasized the team’s commitment to excelling in both competitions. “We have to do our best in both competitions. That’s what we are trying to do: get top four and also win this competition (Europa League). That’s the aim,” stated Iwobi in an exclusive interview with The Mirror.

Acknowledging the stiff competition for attacking positions within the Arsenal squad, Iwobi expressed gratitude for the opportunity to learn from seasoned players like Mesut Ozil and Mkhitaryan. “I’m still learning, I’m still young. Every time I play, I am grateful,” he remarked.

Looking ahead to the return leg against Oestersunds, Iwobi tempered optimism with a pragmatic approach, stating, “You could say that [we have one foot in the next round], but there is still a job to do, and we have to do it at home. There is still half the tie to play. First [before the final] we have to focus on Thursday, take each game step by step. We have to prepare one more game before that.”

As Arsenal navigates the challenges on both domestic and continental fronts, Iwobi’s unwavering confidence underscores the team’s determination to achieve success in the ongoing season.
