CAF CC: Black Bulls coach blames loss to Enyimba on individual mistakes

By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde

Black Bulls coach, Custodio Gune has decried that individual mistakes cost his side the 4-1 defeat to Enyimba FC in the CAF Confederation Cup last weekend.

Joseph Atule slotted in the opener for the People’s Elephant with an early lead before the travelers responded with the leveler.

Ifeanyi Ihemekwele restored the Nigerian side’s lead before goals from Brown Ideye and Atule’s second of the match sealed the game.

“I congratulate Enyimba for the good performance. We conceded an early goal which destabilized the team. We managed to get back one goal, and late in the first half, we conceded another goal,” Gune said.

“The second half, Enyimba came strong whereby they scored again and the team started getting back to the match, unfortunately, we conceded the last one. What next to do is to prepare for the last two matches.

“The difference was individual costly mistakes, especially the first two goals, and compared to the last match, all the players were concentrated, and they did perfectly fine. We tried to get back to the game but unfortunately Enyimba were strong.

“We still believe that we have chance to qualify if we can concentrate.”

The win brightened Enyimba FC’s chances of qualifying from Group D with two games to spare.

They hope to pick victories against Al Masry and Zamalek in their next two games in a bid to make it to the quarter-final.
