Casado makes Deportivo debut as Aubameyang seals dramatic win over Villarreal

Marc Casado made his first appearance for Deportivo La Coruna on Saturday evening, helping his new side secure a dramatic 3-2 victory against Villarreal in the fourth round of the Spanish league.

The Barcelona midfielder, who is spending the season on loan at Deportivo La Coruna, wore the number six shirt and came on in the 66th minute at La Ceramica. His introduction came with the score level at 1-1, while Villarreal were committing players forward in search of a decisive advantage.

Casado operated in the holding midfield role alongside Amatotuchi as Deportivo attempted to withstand the pressure. According to Sport, the 21-year-old produced a composed display during his first outing for the club, making effective challenges and contributing consistently to the defensive effort.

He also managed to block a dangerous shot as Villarreal pushed forward. Casado avoided making any notable errors and helped Deportivo maintain their shape during a demanding spell of the match.

His debut unfolded during an extraordinary final half-hour in which the lead changed hands twice. Villarreal moved in front when Adama Traore inadvertently turned the ball into his own net while attempting to clear it with a header. The own goal put the home side 2-1 ahead.

Deportivo responded in the 79th minute. Moroccan forward Zakaria Eddahchouri brought the visitors level after being set up by Gabon international Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Aubameyang then completed the comeback eight minutes later, scoring in the 88th minute to give Deportivo La Coruna a late 3-2 victory. The result ensured that Casado’s first appearance for the club ended with three points despite Villarreal’s sustained attacking pressure.

Deportivo La Coruna now have eight points and occupy fourth place in the table. Villarreal remain on two points and sit 16th.

For Casado, the match represented the beginning of his spell away from Barcelona. He entered the contest with Deportivo trailing in terms of control during the second half, but his work in the centre of midfield formed part of the response that allowed the visitors to recover from the own goal and claim victory in the closing stages.
