Derby linked with Wrexham goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo
Nigeria and England goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo, currently at Wrexham, has been linked with a move to fellow Championship club Derby.
Okonkwo, 24, joined Wrexham permanently from Arsenal on 1 July 2024 after spending the previous season on loan at the Welsh club. The goalkeeper’s contract with Wrexham runs until 30 June 2027.
He was part of the Wrexham squad that secured promotion to the third tier in the 2023-24 season, before completing a permanent move to the club later that summer on a free transfer.
Okonkwo has yet to make an appearance for Wrexham in the 2026-27 EFL Cup, with the season still at an early stage. He has also been listed as a goalkeeper for the club, which is competing in the Championship alongside Derby.
The potential move would represent a return to the transfer market for Okonkwo after a period in which he moved between Arsenal and loan clubs. Before returning to Wrexham permanently, he spent time with Sturm Graz in Austria, where he won the Austrian Cup in 2022-23, and with Crewe Alexandra.
Okonkwo came through Arsenal’s youth system after joining the club from Arsenal’s academy setup in 2018. His current market value is listed at €5m, while his existing Wrexham contract gives the club an agreement with the goalkeeper for the next two seasons.
