Nigeria defender Nor Maviram joins Riga from Tondela
Nigeria left-back Nor Maviram has begun a new chapter in Latvia after joining Riga from Portuguese club Tondela.
The 25-year-old defender made the move on 16 August 2026, switching from Liga Portugal 2 to Riga’s Virsliga squad. No transfer fee has been disclosed. Maviram’s arrival gives the Latvian club a left-footed defender who can operate in his preferred full-back position.
Maviram was born in Jos and stands 1.78m tall. He had been with Tondela since July 2024, having arrived from fellow Portuguese side Vilaverdense. During his time at Tondela, he was part of the squad that won the Portuguese second-tier championship in 2025.
The defender made one Liga Portugal 2 appearance for Tondela during the 2026-27 campaign before completing his move to Riga. He played 79 minutes in the competition and recorded no goals or assists.
Maviram’s senior career in Portugal began with Gee-Lec before he moved to Vizela in 2020. He subsequently spent time on loan at Pedras Salgadas and later joined Vizela’s under-23 side. In September 2022, he moved on loan to Vilaverdense, a switch that was made permanent the following season.
At Vilaverdense, Maviram continued his development in Portuguese football before transferring to Tondela in 2024. His move to Riga now takes him into the Latvian top flight and represents the latest step in a career that has so far been built across clubs in Portugal.
Riga’s new signing has a listed market value of €400,000 and joins with experience of Portuguese league football, including a title-winning campaign with Tondela. His record also includes an appearance in Liga Portugal 2 during the opening stage of the current season.
Maviram is now registered as a Riga player following the completed transfer on 16 August 2026.
