FC Midtjylland snap up Nigerian teenager Hassan Momodu Kashietu from FC Ebedei
FC Midtjylland have signed Nigerian midfielder Hassan Momodu Kashietu from partner club FC Ebedei, with the teenager joining the Danish side’s under-19 set-up.
The 18-year-old, who moves from the Nigerian outfit to the “Black and Reds”, will initially be part of FC Midtjylland’s U-19 squad as he begins his career in Europe.
Kashietu described the move as a major moment in his life and said he is eager to make an impact in Denmark.
“I am very happy to be here. It’s a dream for me and I’m really proud of myself. It’s big and a milestone, so I’m looking forward to getting started,” he told the club’s official website.
The midfielder has set his sights on breaking into the first team during his time in Herning.
“I hope that during my time here at FC Midtjylland I can play in the first team. I believe that I get some really good experiences, learn a lot and develop as a person and as a player.
“I’m looking forward to getting started and I’m looking forward to getting to know the others. It is an exciting step in my career.”
Midfielder earns praise from FCM Nigeria chief
Head of FCM Nigeria, Jonas Dal, welcomed the arrival of Kashietu and highlighted the youngster’s strengths without the ball as well as his growing technical ability.
“Hassan is a strong player who is good in the duels and works hard without a ball. He is quick in his pressure and has a good ability to read the game, which often means that he gets on the ball first. This makes it difficult for the opponents to play out of the pressure,” Dal said.
“He is good at timing his races and finding the right positions. At the same time, he has developed technically and has become safer on the ball, which has lifted his game. It will be exciting to follow his further development.”
Kashietu’s move continues the established pathway between FC Ebedei in Nigeria and FC Midtjylland, with the Danish club regularly recruiting young talent from the West African side for their youth and development teams.
