Fisayo Dele Bashiru speaks on target with Lazio in 2025

By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde

Nigeria player Fisayo Dele Bashiru, who is on loan at Lazio from Hatayspor in Turkey, is having a wonderful time in Italy.

He scored his second league goal for Lazio during a 1-1 draw with Ademola Lookman’s side, Atalanta in December.

The Super Eagles player has lofty dreams with Lazio this year.

“Maybe if I can’t equal the amount of goals scored last season, maybe I can score 10 goals this season and for the team, I will say to qualify for the Champions League. Winning is the most important thing,” He said.

Dele Bashiru made his professional debut for Sheffield Wednesday in 2020.

He caught Lazio’s attention last season during his pre-season campaign with Hatayspor in Turkey.

“From the moment they first approached me, I realized this was going to be a club that I would go to for sure. It is a club with a massive history, the city, and fans, and it is what I have always wanted as a player. I think this is the perfect time in my career.” He continued.

“It’s good to play for a massive club with high expectations.

“Last season, I was always watching Serie A matches. It’s a very competitive league. Tactically, it is very high level with full concentration on the field. It is also physically demanding.

“They [teammates] help me a lot. What I want to do more is go forward more when I receive the ball with my body position. I am trying to improve on that.

“The way I describe myself is a box-to-box midfielder, very energetic, and I can score goals.” He concluded.

He is also expected to play some roles for Nigeria’s senior men’s national team in preparation for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) is also on the cards for the Dele Bashiru and the Super Eagles in December this year.
