Future Eagles remain unbeaten after Cyprus win and Pakistan draw

Nigeria’s U15 side, the Future Eagles, completed the group stage of the FIFA U15 World Cup and Festival unbeaten after a 2-1 victory over Cyprus and a 1-1 draw with Pakistan on Monday in Baku, Azerbaijan.

The Future Eagles claimed victory against Cyprus in the morning, with Wisdom Oche opening the scoring before captain Timothy Ogar Ijachi struck the decisive goal.

Ijachi had overcome a knock sustained during Sunday’s 3-3 draw with The Gambia to feature against Cyprus.

He was on target again in the afternoon meeting with Pakistan, scoring in the 25th minute to bring Nigeria level. Pakistan had taken the lead one minute into the second half.

FIFA’s inaugural competition uses a no-elimination format, meaning the Future Eagles are now waiting to discover which tier they will enter next as they continue their bid for honours.
