Gordon sets Barcelona record as Gabriel Jesus continues impressive Camp Nou start

Anthony Gordon gave Barcelona the lead against Getafe after just 77 seconds, setting the club’s fastest La Liga goal since May 2023.
The English forward collected the ball in the second minute of Saturday’s eighth-round fixture at Spotify Camp Nou, moved past several opponents and struck a powerful effort from just outside the penalty area into the visitors’ net.
According to football statistics account MisterChip on X, Gordon’s goal was Barcelona’s earliest in La Liga since 28 May 2023, when Ansu Fati scored against Mallorca after 48 seconds.
MisterChip added that no English player had scored so quickly in a La Liga match since 10 February 1988, when Gary Lineker found the net for Barcelona against Espanyol after only 11 seconds.
The early goal continued Gordon’s historic start to the match, while Barcelona’s lead was doubled by Gabriel Jesus in the 30th minute.
The Brazilian striker’s finish added to an exceptional scoring record at Barcelona’s home ground. MisterChip reported that Jesus had played only 58 minutes for Barcelona at Spotify Camp Nou and had already scored three goals.
That equates to one goal every 19 minutes he has played at home so far.
