House Committee on Sports boss backs Super Eagles vs Libya in AFCON qualifiers

By Monsurah Olatunji

The newly appointed Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Sports, Hon. Kabiru Amadu, has expressed confidence that the Super Eagles will secure maximum points in their upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against Libya.

The Super Eagles will face Libya’s Mediterranean Knights on Friday in Uyo for Matchday 3 of the qualifiers, before traveling to Benghazi for the return leg on Tuesday next week.

Representing the Gusau/Tsafe Federal constituency in Zamfara State, Hon. Amadu believes the Nigerian national team possesses the quality required to win both encounters. He urged the players to showcase their full potential during the double-header.

“I have no doubt that the boys will make us proud against Libya, especially based on their performance in the last round of matches,” said Amadu. “I was impressed by their display against Benin Republic in Uyo, and their performance against Rwanda in Kigali was also commendable, despite the draw.”

He further urged the Super Eagles to build on their previous performances, expecting them to step up and deliver in the upcoming matches.

“I am expecting them to step up that performance this Friday and continue from where they left off in the last round of games,” Amadu added.

Hon. Amadu also reassured the team that they have the full support of the National Assembly, with Speaker Honourable Tajudeen Abbas personally backing the Super Eagles to make Nigeria proud on the continental stage.

Nigeria currently leads Group D in the AFCON qualifiers, with four points from two matches, ahead of their crucial clash with Libya on Friday.
