Iheanacho sets new Turkish scoring record in Bursaspor win

Kelechi Iheanacho extended his scoring run to 12 consecutive league appearances as Bursaspor beat Keciorengucu 4-2 in the Turkish 1. Lig on Sunday.
The Super Eagles striker scored in the 50th minute at Aktepe Stadium, helping Bursaspor regain the lead after a lively first half that produced four goals.
Keciorengucu went ahead in the seventh minute when Emirhan Basyigit scored an own goal. Bursaspor responded eight minutes later through Amine Boutrah, who brought the visitors level.
Lewis Baker restored Keciorengucu’s advantage in the 35th minute, but Oguzcan Calıskan equalised for Bursaspor two minutes before the interval.
Iheanacho then struck five minutes after half-time to put Bursaspor in front for the second time. Lincoln completed the scoring in the 66th minute, giving the visitors a 4-2 lead and securing their control of the match.
The goal was Iheanacho’s 12th in successive league appearances on the scoresheet. It moved him beyond his previous record of 11 consecutive league matches in which he had scored for Bursaspor, making it the longest scoring streak in Turkish football.
The Nigerian forward has become an important part of Bursaspor’s attacking play since joining the club. The former Leicester City and Celtic player will now aim to continue his run as Bursaspor’s Turkish second division campaign progresses.
