Juventus end winless run as McKennie and Douglas Luiz Soares secure Lecce victory

Juventus returned to winning ways in Serie A with a 2-0 victory over Lecce at the Stadio Via del Mare on Sunday, ending a difficult run of results and moving up to seventh in the table.

The result came after Juventus had suffered a heavy league defeat by Lazio and then drawn with Rennes in the Europa League. Luciano Spalletti’s side went into the match seeking a response and delivered a controlled performance to claim three important points away from home.

Weston McKennie opened the scoring in the 30th minute, giving Juventus the lead before the break. Douglas Luiz Soares then doubled the advantage nine minutes later with a fine strike, leaving Lecce facing a two-goal deficit at half-time.

Juventus managed the second half effectively, protecting their advantage and preventing Lecce from mounting a recovery. The victory allowed the visitors to complete a convincing response to their recent setbacks without conceding.

The three points take Juventus to 14 points from eight matches, lifting them into seventh place in the Serie A standings. Lecce remain on nine points and sit 12th.

The win provides Juventus with an important boost as they look to rebuild confidence, correct their recent results and close the gap on the teams competing near the top of the league in the coming rounds.

For Lecce, the defeat ended the evening without reward despite home advantage, while Juventus left the Stadio Via del Mare with a result that restores momentum under Spalletti.
