Nigeria’s talented winger, Kelechi Iheanacho, has firmly backed George Finidi’s candidacy for the permanent position as Head Coach of the Super Eagles.
Iheanacho, who played the entire duration in the Super Eagles’ impressive 2-1 friendly victory over the Black Stars of Ghana – Finidi’s debut match as interim coach, praised the former Ajax winger for showcasing his coaching prowess through the team’s performance.
The goals from Cyril Dessers and Ademola Lookman, which overshadowed a consolation penalty goal from Jordan Ayew, highlighted the team’s determination under Finidi’s guidance.
Expressing his confidence in the team’s capabilities under Finidi, Iheanacho remarked, “It was a fantastic performance.
“The coach has done a remarkable job in setting out our play style despite the short time he’s had to assemble the team. With only him managing the task now, I hope he’s given more opportunities to lead the team and prove himself.”
Following this successful outing, Finidi will have another opportunity to lead the Super Eagles as they face Mali in another friendly match scheduled for Tuesday in Marrakech.
