Marseille linked with Freiburg goalkeeper Noah Atubolu

German-Nigerian goalkeeper Noah Atubolu is the subject of a transfer rumour linking him with a move from Bundesliga club Freiburg to Ligue 1 side Marseille.

Atubolu, 24, has a €25m market value and remains under contract with Freiburg until 30 June 2027. The reported interest comes with more than 10 months left on his current deal, meaning any potential transfer would be expected to involve a fee rather than a free move.

Born in Freiburg im Breisgau, Atubolu has spent his career with the club. He joined Freiburg’s senior set-up from the club’s second team in July 2021 after progressing through the academy, having originally arrived from Freiburger FC’s youth system in 2015.

The goalkeeper was part of the Freiburg side that finished as German Cup runners-up in the 2021-22 season. He also won promotion to the third tier with Freiburg II in 2020-21 and was awarded a bronze medal in the Fritz Walter awards while representing Germany in 2023.

There is no indication that a transfer has been agreed, and the rumour does not include a proposed fee or a probability of completion. Atubolu’s current contractual position leaves Freiburg with control of his future as Marseille’s reported interest develops.
