Monza sign Nigeria midfielder Ebenezer Akinsanmiro on loan from Inter Milan
AC Monza have signed Nigeria midfielder Ebenezer Akinsanmiro from Inter Milan on an initial loan deal, with the transfer due to become permanent if the conditions agreed by the two clubs are met.
The move gives the 21-year-old another opportunity to establish himself in Italian football after previous loan spells with Sampdoria and Pisa. Akinsanmiro is regarded as one of Nigeria’s most promising young midfielders and will now continue his development with Serie A newcomers Monza.
A statement on Monza’s official website confirmed the arrival of the Super Eagles player from Inter Milan. The club did not disclose the specific conditions that would trigger a permanent transfer.
Akinsanmiro began his career with Nigerian top-flight club Remo Stars before moving to Italy in 2022. He travelled to the country to take part in the Viareggio Tournament with the Alex Transfiguration Academy selection, where his performances brought him to the attention of Inter Milan.
The Nerazzurri completed his signing in January 2023 and initially placed him in their Under-20 side. He quickly impressed at youth level and earned a promotion to the first-team squad.
His senior debut for Inter Milan came on 25 February 2024, when he appeared in the Serie A meeting with Lecce. He was also part of the Inter squad that won the Italian league title that season.
Akinsanmiro subsequently moved out on loan to Sampdoria, where he gained regular experience in Serie B and the Coppa Italia. He made 38 appearances across the two competitions during his time with the club.
The midfielder later joined Pisa and continued to build his experience in the Italian game. He played 25 matches in Serie A and the Coppa Italia for Pisa.
His move to Monza represents the latest stage in a progression that has taken him from Nigerian domestic football to one of Italy’s leading clubs and now to a new Serie A challenge.
Monza’s agreement with Inter Milan is designed to give Akinsanmiro further first-team opportunities as he seeks to develop into an important player in Italian football. The midfielder will also be aiming to strengthen his position within the Super Eagles setup as he continues his career in Italy.
At 21, Akinsanmiro has already experienced football at youth, Serie A and Serie B levels, as well as appearing in the Coppa Italia. His next task will be to make an impact at Monza and turn his latest loan move into a significant step forward.
