Morocco beat Lesotho to make it two wins from two in Africa Cup of Nations qualifying

Morocco moved to the top of their 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying group with a comfortable 2-0 victory over Lesotho on Tuesday.
The result gave the Atlas Lions their second consecutive win and took them to six points, while Lesotho remain bottom without a point after suffering their second defeat.
Morocco had control of the match from the outset and dictated the tempo throughout, creating several opportunities to extend their lead. Lesotho struggled to match their opponents and offered little resistance as the visitors dominated possession and territory.
Brahim Diaz opened the scoring in the 45th minute, just before half-time. A through ball into the penalty area reached Neil El Aynaoui, but a mistake by the Lesotho defence allowed the ball to fall to Diaz, who calmly finished into the net.
The goal gave Morocco a deserved advantage at the break, although their overall performance suggested they could have scored more than once during the first half.
The visitors continued to control proceedings after the interval and eventually doubled their lead in the 82nd minute. Sofiane Rahimi sent a low cross into the area, and Azzedine Ounahi met it first time to complete the scoring.
Morocco’s second victory followed their 2-0 win over Gabon in the opening round of qualifying. Lesotho, meanwhile, had begun their campaign with a 2-1 defeat by Niger and have yet to register a point.
The goals from Diaz and Ounahi were also shared by beIN SPORTS on 29 September 2026.
