Moses Simon features as Paris FC beat Nice to go top of Ligue 1
Paris FC moved to the top of the Ligue 1 table after defeating Nice 3-0 on Sunday, with Super Eagles winger Moses Simon making his second appearance for the club before being substituted in the second half.
Simon started the match for the home side and produced what was described as a brilliant performance during his time on the pitch. He was replaced by Matondo in the 63rd minute after an impressive display.
Paris FC took control of the match in the 21st minute when Lassine Sinayoko opened the scoring from the penalty spot. The goal was awarded after a VAR review, giving the hosts an early advantage against Nice.
The home side protected their lead after the interval and added a second goal six minutes into the second half. Samir Chergui found the net in the 51st minute with a low drive, prompting further celebrations among the Paris FC supporters.
Nice were unable to find a response as Paris FC continued to hold a commanding position in the contest. The result was secured in the 89th minute when Vincent Marchetti scored the third goal, completing a comprehensive victory for the hosts.
The win gives Paris FC four points from their opening two matches and lifts them to the top of the Ligue 1 standings.
For Simon, the appearance represented his second outing since joining the Paris club. Although he did not remain on the pitch until the final whistle, his contribution formed part of a convincing team performance as Paris FC claimed all three points.
The result also provided Paris FC with a strong start to their Ligue 1 campaign, while Nice left without scoring after conceding once in each half and a late third goal.
Simon’s substitution came with the hosts already in a winning position, following the goals from Sinayoko and Chergui. Marchetti’s late strike then removed any remaining doubt over the outcome and confirmed a three-goal success for Paris FC.
The home victory means Paris FC currently lead the table on four points after two games. Their 3-0 triumph over Nice was built on the penalty awarded following the VAR check, Chergui’s low finish and Marchetti’s late goal.
