Paris Saint-Germain close in on Parma goalkeeper Zion Suzuki deal

Paris Saint-Germain are edging closer to a deal for Parma goalkeeper Zion Suzuki during the current summer transfer window.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano said on X: “Paris Saint-Germain have presented their project to Zion Suzuki in order to obtain the goalkeeper’s green light for the deal.”
The French club are now attempting to secure Suzuki’s approval before moving to the next stage of negotiations. Their approach indicates that Paris Saint-Germain are keen to make progress on a move for the Japan international, who currently plays in the Italian league with Parma.
Romano added: “Paris Saint-Germain are ready to move forward with Parma in the negotiations, as Juventus also wanted to sign Suzuki, but their initial offer was rejected.”
That leaves Paris Saint-Germain prepared to continue discussions with Parma, while Juventus have already seen their first proposal turned down. The latest development places the French club in a strong position as they pursue what would be a notable signing from Italian football.
Suzuki’s potential arrival would add another option to Paris Saint-Germain’s goalkeeping department. Last season, Lucas Chevalier and Matvey Safonov shared the starting role for the club after Gianluigi Donnarumma was sold to Manchester City.
The competition between Chevalier and Safonov meant both goalkeepers took turns protecting Paris Saint-Germain’s goal during the previous campaign. With Suzuki now the subject of the club’s attention, the French side have presented their sporting project directly to the goalkeeper before trying to reach an agreement with Parma.
The immediate focus is therefore on whether Suzuki will give Paris Saint-Germain the required approval for the transfer. If he does, the club are ready to advance negotiations with Parma, although the details of any agreement have not been stated.
Juventus’ rejected opening bid underlines the interest in the goalkeeper, but Paris Saint-Germain are now the club reported to be pressing ahead. Romano’s update suggests the French side have made their intentions clear to Suzuki and are prepared to engage Parma in talks.
For now, the deal remains at the stage of discussions between the player and Paris Saint-Germain, followed by negotiations with his Italian club. The outcome will determine whether Suzuki becomes the latest goalkeeper to join the competition for a place in the French club’s side after the departure of Donnarumma to Manchester City.
