Real Madrid have agreed a new contract with Arda Guler that will keep the Turkey international at Santiago Bernabeu until June 2032.

The final agreement was approved in September and all the documentation has now been signed, according to transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano. The only remaining step is for the Spanish club to make the deal official, with the announcement expected to take place in the presidential box at Santiago Bernabeu.

The renewal comes before the Clasico and represents a major commitment to one of Real Madrid’s most highly rated young players. It also underlines the club’s belief that Guler will be a central figure in its plans for the future.

Guler endured a difficult first season after joining Real Madrid. He suffered three separate injuries and played only 440 minutes in 12 appearances under Carlo Ancelotti.

His fortunes changed dramatically last season, when the 21-year-old made a significant breakthrough. He featured in 51 matches, scoring six goals and providing 14 assists, while also being named the Champions League’s best young player.

Those performances established Guler as an important member of Real Madrid’s strongest line-up. This season, he has increasingly provided direction to a midfield that has at times lacked structure, contributing through his passing, creativity and ability to make runs into the penalty area.

He has also developed an effective attacking partnership with Kylian Mbappe and has formed a strong understanding with Jude Bellingham and Vinicius Junior.

Romano confirmed the completion of the agreement in a post on social media, writing: “Arda Guler has signed his contract at Real Madrid valid for the next five years from January, until June 2032. The agreement was reached in September and it’s closed now, also documents are signed and sealed. Up next: club announcement.”

The new deal is described as extending for six additional years. Since joining Real Madrid at the age of 18, Guler is set to spend at least nine years with the club, remaining there until he is 27.

The agreement reflects the importance Real Madrid attach to the Turkey international, who is viewed within the club as one of the defining talents of its next generation.
