Sporting Lagos confirm Jeffery Buter as new head coach

Sporting Lagos have confirmed the promotion of Jeffery Buter as the new head coach of the senior team after the recent departure of former head coach Shola Adegun.
Jeffery joined Sporting Lagos in 2023 as part of the Academy setup, where he immediately made an impact by playing a pivotal role in the club’s historic Gothia Puma Trophy triumph.
In terms of qualifications, Jeff currently holds a Scottish FA C License and is in the process of pursuing his UEFA C License.
“Jeffery has shown remarkable dedication and professionalism since joining our Academy two years ago. His work ethic, vision, and ability to challenge the norm make him the perfect fit to guide our senior team,” Godwin Enakhena, club chairman allayed.
“We look forward to the next chapter of Sporting Lagos under his leadership.”
His impressive work at youth level earned him a promotion to the senior team as assistant coach for the 2024/25 NNL season, where he showcased his tactical acumen, leadership skills, and ability to connect with players.
Before his time at Sporting Lagos, Jeff began his coaching career in 2020 with Makinz FA, Abuja, serving first as an assistant coach before rising to head coach.
He later gained further experience as head coach with both the AS Roma Academy and Derby Football Academy, also in Abuja. He joined Sporting Lagos from Derby in 2023, bringing with him a proven track record of developing players and delivering results.
