Terem Moffi set for Hamburger SV medical after €2.5m agreement with OGC Nice

Super Eagles captain Terem Moffi is travelling to Hamburg for a medical as he moves closer to completing a transfer from OGC Nice to Hamburger SV.

The 27-year-old forward is due to arrive in Hamburg on Friday, with his medical scheduled for Saturday. The move follows a verbal agreement between the two clubs over the terms of his transfer.

Hamburger SV have agreed to pay a guaranteed fee of €2m for Moffi, according to transfer reporter Florian Plettenberg. That figure is approximately N3.2bn in Nigerian currency.

A further €500,000, worth about N0.8bn, is available in add-ons, taking the potential value of the deal to €2.5m – approximately N4bn based on the figures provided.

The transfer has not yet been formally completed, with the remaining paperwork and other details still to be finalised. Moffi is expected to sign a contract running until 2029 if he passes his medical.

He would become Hamburger SV’s new number nine and is set to join the Bundesliga club after making 72 appearances for OGC Nice in all competitions. During that time, he scored 24 goals and supplied five assists.

Moffi’s impending move follows an impressive run of form for Nigeria during the summer friendlies. He provided two assists in the Super Eagles’ victory over Zimbabwe before scoring in consecutive matches against Jamaica and Poland.

He also captained Nigeria at the 2026 Unity Cup, further strengthening his standing as one of the leading figures in the national side.

The striker’s performances during those matches made him Nigeria’s standout player in the summer international programme. His contribution included both creative involvement and goalscoring, with his efforts across the three fixtures helping him attract attention ahead of a potential change of club.

Hamburger SV are now waiting for the medical and final administrative steps before confirming the transfer. Should those stages be completed successfully, Moffi will begin a new chapter in Germany and take on the role of the club’s principal centre-forward.

The proposed agreement would see OGC Nice receive the fixed €2m fee, while the additional €500,000 would depend on the conditions attached to the add-ons. The overall package therefore remains worth up to €2.5m.

Moffi’s move would end his spell with OGC Nice, where he recorded 24 goals and five assists across his 72 matches. His next club is expected to be Hamburger SV, subject to the successful completion of Saturday’s medical and the signing of the contract.
