Urhoghide emerges as Sheffield United target after MLS spell

England-Nigeria centre-back Osaze Urhoghide is being linked with a move from MLS club Dallas to Championship side Sheffield United.

The 26-year-old has established himself as a regular for Dallas during the 2026 Major League Soccer season, featuring in 14 of the club’s 17 possible matches. He has started 82% of those games and recorded one goal and one assist.

Urhoghide joined Dallas from French club Amiens SC in February 2025 in a transfer worth €3m. His current market value is listed at €2m, while his contract with the MLS club runs until 31 December 2028.

A move to Sheffield United would represent a return to England for the Rotterdam-born defender, who began his senior career with Sheffield Wednesday before joining Celtic in 2021. He spent part of the 2021-22 season on loan at KV Oostende and helped Celtic win the Scottish league title and Scottish League Cup that campaign.

Urhoghide has played 14 MLS matches in 2026, contributing to a total of 1,260 minutes and four yellow cards without being sent off. The reported interest from Sheffield United remains at the rumour stage, with the defender still under contract at Dallas.
