Vivian Ikechukwu: Super Falcons star joins Turkish side Besiktas from Gintra

Besiktas have completed the signing of Nigeria striker Vivian Ikechukwu from Lithuanian side FC Gintra.

The centre-forward’s one-year contract at Gintra expired last December, and she has now teamed up the “Big Three” for a one-and-half year, Nigeriafootball.ng can exclusively report.

The former Rivers Angels player, who completed her professional move to the European nation in March 2022, inspired the University outfit to a successful title defence and Uefa Women’s Champions League berth.
The 25-year-old forward, who scored 14 goals with 14 assists in 19 appearnaces to guarantee Gintra FC’s 21st domestic crown opened up on her successful maiden campaign in the Lithuanian league.

On Thursday, the Turkish giants have confirmed that Ikechukwu has moved to Vodafone Park, tying her down to the “Big Three” through until the summer of 2024.

“Beşiktaş Vodafone women’s football team recently signed a contract with Vivian Ikechukwu, who played for FC Gintra Team,” the club wrote its website.

“We welcome our athlete and wish him many successes with our glorious jersey.”

Before moving abroad, Ikechukwu joined Rivers Angels from Abia Angels in 2018 and won her first title with the team in the Nigeria Women’s Football League Premiership champions shield against Nasarawa Amazons.

She also won the 2018 Women’s Aiteo Cup in Yenagoa and the 2019 NWFL title with the Jewel Of Rivers and during the 2021 Super 6 tournament in Ijebu-Ode. At the tournament, she scored four goals and made five assists to help her side to a seventh league title and representation at the maiden edition of the CAF Women’s Champions League.
