Nigeria’s heroine Shakirat Moshood is confident of scoring more goals for the Flamingos in the knockout stage of their final Group A match at the 2024 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup.
Moshood’s 89th-minute strike from 24 yards earned Nigeria all three points against a heroic Dominican Republic side in the team’s final match of Group A on Wednesday morning.
The win ensured that Nigeria would battle the USA in the quarter-finals on Saturday.
“I am not thinking and I am thinking again,” Moshood said after the match.
“In our next game, I will try and do better and score many goals, Insha Allah.”
After looking forward to the quarter-final clash against the United States of America (USA), Moshood seized the opportunity to thank her fans and teammates for their support.
“The game was perfect. Thank you my fans. Thank you for the support and for everything you have done for me. Kudos to my teammate. Thank you all,” she concluded.
The Flamingos top their group, three points better than second-placed Ecuador, who walloped New Zealand 4-0 to finish with six points.
The West African team will be meeting the USA for the second consecutive edition of the tournament after their encounter at the same stage in 2022, where Nigeria emerged victorious on penalties.
