Super Eagles drop two places in FIFA ranking after loss to Mali

Nigeria’s senior men’s national team dropped two places on the latest FIFA rankings.

The Federation of International Football Association (FIFA) released the ranking on Thursday with Mali which defeated Super Eagles 2-0 last month in an international friendly match moving up.

Nigeria dropped two places from 28th to 30th position behind Morocco (13th) and Senegal (17th).

Mali benefited from a 2-0 win over Nigeria to move three places to 44th position from the previous 47th.

2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) winner, Cote D’Ivoire (38th) moved a place up to the fifth position.

Egypt (37), Tunisia (41), Algeria (43), Cameroon (51), and South Africa (59) complete Africa’s top ten ranked men’s football teams.

There is the possibility that the rankings will remain the same next month.

This is due to the next FIFA window for the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers in June when Super Eagles will face South Africa and Benin Republic.
