RSDF boss Barrister Paul Edeh expects a competitive NWFL Premiership season

Ahead of the 2024/2025 Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership season, the President of Ratels Sports Development Foundation (RSDF), organisers of Sheroes Cup is expecting a highly competitive season.

Barrister Paul Edeh who owns two women’s football teams; Naija Ratels and Honey Badgers charged top clubs that participated at the 2024 Sheroes Cup to prepare extensively for the upcoming league season.

The Chairman of Venue Football Association made this known during the closing ceremony of the 2024 Sheroes Cup as Remo Stars defeated Abia Angels on penalties to win the title at the Goal Project pitch of Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja on Wednesday.

Edeh congratulated Remo Stars for winning the seventh edition of the Sheroes Cup.

“Remo Stars Ladies, this edition is you time, savour it. I can see the joy and gladness on your faces. As you celebrate, it’s my prayer that you continue to celebrate, but that also depends on your consistency,” Edeh stated.

Past winners of the Sheroes Cup, formerly Flying Officers Cup like Edo Queens, Delta Queens, and Bayelsa Queens went on to win the league title.

“When the two semi-final matches at the 2024 Sheroes Cup were played, they ended in penalty. Also, all the game that played in the final ended in penalty,” He continued.

“That is to show that this new football season we are about to commence is for any club to take. Everyone should really look out for Remo Stars because of how previous seasons panned out.”

Apart from Edo Queens which won the maiden edition and that of 2023, Sheroes Cup has produced different champions since inception.

The Sky Blue Ladies winning this year’s edition put them in the picture for the next league title under the leadership of former Edo Queens and Sunshine Queens coach, Wemimo Mathew.
