Nigeria’s women’s national under-17 football team, popularly known as the Flamingos, could discover their group stage opponents for the 2025 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup on Thursday if they successfully qualify for the tournament.
The Flamingos are currently preparing for the next round of the qualification series, where they will take on the Guinea women’s national under-17 football team in a crucial fixture for a place at the mundial.
On Tuesday, FIFA confirmed that the official draws for both the 2025 FIFA U-17 World Cup and the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup will be conducted in Zurich on Thursday, coinciding with the opening day of the World Football Week.
FIFA also announced that the full match schedules for both tournaments, including fixture dates and venues, will be released immediately after the draws are completed.
The 2025 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup is scheduled to take place between October and December later this year.
Nigeria’s Flamingos remain one of Africa’s most successful teams at the cadet level and will be aiming to secure qualification once again as they look to continue their impressive record on the world stage.
