Nasarawa Amazons Renew Edo Queens Rivalry in President Federation Cup Quarter-final Showdown

Nasarawa Amazons will renew their fierce rivalry with reigning NWFL Premiership champions Edo Queens when both sides clash in the quarter-finals of the 2026 President Federation Cup on Thursday at the Prince Abubakar Audu University Mini Stadium in Anyigba, Kogi State.

The encounter comes just weeks after the two teams met during the NWFL Premiership Super Six in Port Harcourt, but this time a place in the Federation Cup semi-finals will be at stake.

The Lafia-based side head into the contest determined to continue their title chase after overcoming Naija Ratels 4-3 on penalties following a hard-fought 1-1 draw in the Round of 16 in Zaria.

Edo Queens, meanwhile, booked their place in the last eight with an emphatic 4-1 victory over Delta Queens in Awka, underlining their credentials as one of the favourites for the title.

Nasarawa Amazons head coach Christopher Danjuma will be looking to mastermind another big performance from his team. The experienced tactician has guided the Amazons to several impressive results this season and is expected to field a strong lineup capable of overcoming the Benin City outfit.

The fixture also rekindles memories of last year’s Federation Cup, when Nasarawa Amazons defeated Edo Queens in the semi-finals. That result adds another layer of intrigue to Thursday’s highly anticipated encounter.

The winner of the tie will progress to the semi-finals, where they will face either Confluence Queens or Sunshine Queens.

With pride, revenge, and a place in the last four on the line, fans can expect an entertaining and fiercely contested battle between two of Nigeria’s leading women’s football clubs.
