Nigeria legend Daniel Amokachi joins 22Bet as Pan-African Ambassador
Sports betting company 22Bet has landed one of the biggest names in African football after unveiling Nigerian legend Daniel Amokachi as its new Pan-African Brand Ambassador.
The former Super Eagles captain was officially introduced at a ceremony where football stakeholders, business leaders, sports personalities and members of the media gathered to witness the partnership between one of Nigeria’s greatest football icons and one of Africa’s fastest-growing sports betting brands in Lagos on Wednesday.
For 22Bet, the agreement represents another major milestone in its long-term commitment to Africa. Amokachi joins an array of elite ambassadorial line-up that already includes former Togo captain Emmanuel Adebayor and Kenya legend Victor Wanyama, demonstrating the company’s determination to work alongside some of the continent’s most respected football personalities.
However, company officials were keen to stress that the partnership extends far beyond football or commercial branding.
Instead, the collaboration will focus heavily on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives aimed at improving communities across Nigeria and Africa through football development, youth empowerment, education, healthy lifestyle campaigns and support for vulnerable groups.

A Nigerian football icon
Few players occupy a more special place in Nigerian football history than Daniel Amokachi.
Nicknamed “The Bull” during his playing days, Amokachi was a central figure in one of the greatest generations ever produced by the Super Eagles.
He helped Nigeria win the 1994 Africa Cup of Nations in Tunisia before making history two years later when the country claimed Africa’s first-ever Olympic football gold medal at the Atlanta Games.
His achievements at club level were equally impressive.
After making his name with Ranchers Bees in Kaduna, Amokachi starred for Belgian side Club Brugge before moving to Everton, where he became one of the first Nigerian footballers to establish himself in the English Premier League.
He lifted the FA Cup with Everton in 1995 before enjoying further success in Turkey, winning both the Turkish Super Lig title and the Turkish Cup with Beşiktaş.
Having also captained the Super Eagles during an illustrious international career, Amokachi remains one of Nigeria’s most admired football ambassadors.
Partnership built around giving back
Speaking during the unveiling ceremony, Amokachi explained that the partnership had been built around a shared desire to improve lives rather than simply promote a brand.
“I am delighted to join the 22Bet family. This is not an ordinary relationship, but one that is designed to make a positive impact on the lives of people in Nigeria and across Africa,” the AFCON winner and Olympic Games gold medallist said.
“I am more interested in doing something in Nigeria and Africa where we can make a big impact on people’s lives through CSR programmes that I have already been involved in, and that 22Bet has also been carrying out, especially in Nigeria and across Africa.
“It is gratifying to make an impact on the lives of your own people, especially through football, which has given me so much as a footballer. This is a family relationship, so I am happy to join and I look forward to making a real impact on people’s lives.”
His remarks reflected a career that has increasingly focused on giving back to football and society after retirement.
The partnership will support football clinics for young players, educational programmes, campaigns promoting healthy living through sport, assistance for underprivileged communities and initiatives celebrating Nigeria’s rich cultural heritage.
The programme also aims to create more opportunities for talented young footballers by exposing them to professional coaching, mentorship and pathways into elite football.
