Plateau United pause logo redesign after stakeholder concerns

Plateau United Football Club have suspended plans to change their logo after stakeholders raised concerns about the proposed modification, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The club said the redesign process had been put on hold while further consultations take place, meaning no permanent change will be made at this stage.

As part of the next phase, officials will present three new designs to stakeholders. Those stakeholders will then review the options and select the version they prefer. Until that process is completed, Plateau United’s existing logo will continue to serve as the club’s official emblem.

The decision brings the proposed change to a temporary halt and places wider consultation at the centre of the club’s approach. Rather than proceeding with the initial modification, Plateau United will now seek broader input before settling on any new design.

The club’s announcement makes clear that the current emblem remains in use during the consultation period. It will therefore continue to represent Plateau United while stakeholders consider the three alternatives put forward by officials.

No replacement has yet been adopted. The proposed redesign remains under review, with the final decision dependent on the outcome of the stakeholders’ selection process.

Officials said the aim of suspending the change was to ensure that any permanent alteration enjoys broader support and reflects a consensus among those consulted. The three-design process is intended to give stakeholders a direct role in determining whether the club should adopt a new emblem and, if so, which option should be selected.

For now, Plateau United’s existing logo remains unchanged and officially recognised by the club. The suspension means the earlier proposal will not take effect while the additional consultations are carried out.

The club’s decision follows concerns from stakeholders about the planned modification. By pausing the process and introducing a choice of three designs, Plateau United has created an opportunity for those stakeholders to review the alternatives before a final logo is approved.

The issue is therefore not a confirmed change to the club’s identity, but an ongoing review of how any possible modification should be decided. A permanent replacement will only be implemented after the consultation process has provided the required wider input and consensus.

Until then, the current Plateau United emblem remains in place. The club will continue with that logo as its official symbol while the three proposed designs are considered and one is selected through the stakeholder review.
