Al-Hilal angered by AFC decision to postpone Al-Nassr match

Al-Hilal are unhappy with the decision to postpone Al-Nassr’s AFC Champions League Elite match against Al Wasl, according to sources cited by Kooora.

The fixture, which was due to be played on Monday evening in the third round of the competition, was postponed by the Asian Football Confederation because of logistical considerations and the current developments in the region.

A source within Al-Hilal told Kooora that the Saudi club believes the AFC has taken an inconsistent approach by allowing the Al-Nassr fixture to be delayed.

Al-Hilal had previously asked the continental governing body to postpone their own match against Al Sadd because of the circumstances affecting the region. However, that request was rejected, and the club was told it had to travel by land.

The source said Al-Hilal were also informed that failure to comply with the decision would result in the club’s withdrawal from the competition being confirmed.

The situation has left Al-Hilal’s board frustrated, with the club seeking what it considers equal treatment for all teams involved in the tournament.

Al-Hilal are competing on all fronts and are particularly unhappy that the match against Al-Nassr and Al Wasl has been postponed after their own fixture against Al Sadd went ahead in the previous round.

The Riyadh club defeated Al Sadd 2-0 in Qatar and currently lead the AFC Champions League Elite standings with six points from their opening two matches.
