Abideen helps Fenerbahce sweep aside Haymana Spor 5-0 before Real Sociedad test

Super Falcons midfielder Abideen Suliat Olajumoke played a key role as Fenerbahce Women secured a convincing 5-0 victory over Haymana Spor Kulubu ahead of their UEFA Women’s Europa Cup Round of 16 tie against Real Sociedad.

Fenerbahce dominated at home at the Fenerbahce Dereagzı Lefter Kucukandonyadis Facilities, scoring five unanswered goals to claim maximum points and extend their strong domestic form.

Abideen was involved in midfield as the Turkish side controlled the match and sustained pressure throughout. Although she was not listed among the reported goalscorers, her contribution helped Fenerbahce maintain their authority in the game.

The result reflected the hosts’ attacking efficiency, while the clean sheet highlighted the defensive organisation behind their comfortable win. Their performance provided a strong platform as they continue their domestic campaign and prepare for a demanding European assignment.

Fenerbahce’s next challenge will come in the UEFA Women’s Europa Cup Round of 16, when they travel to Spain to face Real Sociedad on Wednesday, October 28.

The fixture will give the Turkish club the opportunity to measure themselves against Spanish opposition as they seek to progress further in European competition. Their emphatic win against Haymana Spor has given them momentum, although Real Sociedad are expected to present a more difficult test and require Fenerbahce to produce another disciplined display.

For Abideen, the match was another opportunity to show her qualities at midfield level while competing in both domestic and European football. Continued involvement in competitive fixtures can support the Nigerian international’s development in terms of her technical play and tactical understanding.

Her presence in the Fenerbahce side also represents another positive development for Nigerian women’s football, with Super Falcons players continuing to feature for clubs across European leagues.

Fenerbahce will now switch their focus to the European tie, hoping to carry the confidence generated by their 5-0 domestic victory into the meeting with Real Sociedad. Abideen will aim to play her part again as the Turkish side pursue an important result in the next stage of the competition.
