Al-Qadsiah hold talks with RB Leipzig over €8m Suleman Sani transfer

RB Leipzig are in discussions with Saudi Pro League club Al-Qadsiah over a permanent deal for former Flying Eagles winger Suleman Sani, with a package worth about €8m, including bonuses, reportedly on the table.

Sky Sport reporter Philipp Hinze says negotiations between the clubs are continuing, although no agreement has yet been reached.

The possible transfer would come only seven months after Sani joined Leipzig from Slovakian side AS Trencin in January 2026.

Leipzig moved quickly to secure the then-19-year-old, offering him a contract running until June 2031 after being impressed by his performances in Slovakia.

Sani spent time developing at AS Trencin, where he scored five goals and provided five assists in 50 competitive appearances. His form there earned him a move to Germany and helped put him on the path to senior club football in Europe.

Before joining Leipzig, Sani also represented Nigeria at the 2025 FIFA U-20 World Cup.

However, the winger has so far struggled to make an impact in Leipzig’s first-team plans. He has not made his Bundesliga debut and has been unable to establish himself as a regular member of the senior squad.

Leipzig’s latest squad update listed Sani among the players training with the club’s Under-19 side, underlining the difficulty he has faced in breaking into the first team.

His progress has also been disrupted by injury problems, creating another challenge at an important stage of his development.

A move to Al-Qadsiah could give Sani the chance to revive his career through more regular first-team football in the Saudi Pro League. The proposed agreement, worth approximately N12.5bn when bonuses are included, would represent a significant change in direction for a player Leipzig previously tied down on a long-term contract.

The negotiations remain ongoing, and the two clubs are yet to reach a final agreement over the permanent transfer.
